From getting back to full movement after surgery or just making getting up of the couch a bit easier, our Wellness clients are each a success story in their own right.

Charlotte

Charlotte started training with me in September 2022 with a view to simply wanting to “jiggle less after the realisation had set in that she wasn’t getting any younger”. Charlotte injured her back back badly in an accident in August 2023 and had to put her training on hold. On her return we have worked steadily to get Charlotte back to where she wants to be.

Ben has worked with me on a weekly basis to build my strength and tone as well as my confidence- he has quickly worked out I am a carrot & stick kind of person and anything that reminds me of high school PE brings me out in a cold sweat. Taking all this on board, our sessions are challenging but achievable, I feel I am making progress and I actually told him last week I had been looking forward to our session!!

Cheryl

Cheryl started with me in January 2023. She was extremely nervous and lacked any confidence in training. Cheryl did not want to go anywhere near a gym and was unsure about what she wanted to achieve but now absolutely loves training and feels like she is the fittest and healthiest she has ever been.

For years I have had mental health struggles, over time the realisation of the benefits of exercise and the positive effects this has, became my drive – I just never found the right path. Lacking self confidence and general anxieties a gym wasn’t for me so running was my only relief, so run I did! Early in 2023 Prosperity – Health and Fitness came to me as a big recommendation from a friend, I signed up and I found my path…..
The level of approach and support offered, is done so on a person-centred basis. My personal needs, goals and expectations were listened to and acted upon, within my training plan. My self confidence was very low at this point and Ben offered a non-judgemental and re-assuring approach. Throughout the year I have battled a lot with the realistic but challenging routines Ben has put in place for me and wow they’ve been a challenge. Ben knows and assess’ my potential and capabilities well and drives me through my grumbles to achieve each and every ‘set’, each and every session and the feel-good factor that is indescribable. Ben has taught me discipline, how to drive myself and how to beat my own demons. His professionalism, commitment and enthusiasm has a very good balance, second to none!!

Clem

Clem requires very specific training around his leg strength and assistance with his mobility. Working with him since his knee replacement and bypass has been an absolute pleasure. Clem has two thirty minute sessions a week as an hour at one go would not be suitable for him. Clem’s wife also attends the sessions with him where we have worked very successfully on removing her lower back pain.

“I have been working out under the tutelage of Ben Clifton for two years now after my right knee replacement surgery and a quadruple heart bypass in 2021 after Covid. I am now 64 kilos. Ben has helped me steadily but immensely in my wellbeing to date. He has been extremely diligent in identifying my specific needs and supporting me accordingly to enable me to work within my own capacity to improve my right knee and leg in general. Of course his training methods have improved my breathing and strength.  This has improved my ability to cope with the constant loss of breath I had been suffering. It has substantially improved my ability to cope with simple daily life challenges like getting dressed, having a shower etc .
Ben is now helping me improve the strength in my left leg as I am awaiting its knee replacement surgery. I am extremely happy and proud to recommend Ben. He has been exceptional in improving not just my general strength but health and wellbeing”.

Shery

Shery was, in her own words, starting from nothing but at 65 had become very aware that she was aching more, struggling with energy and not in a place she wanted to be, and certainly on a road she didn’t want to continue down. Training Shery has been an absolute pleasure and her progress trough basic but strategic routines has been fantastic.

I am almost two months into my fitness plan with Ben at RL Fitness & despite Christmas and a big birthday in the middle Ben has kept my belief that I can do this. I have in the past been your classic join gym, & couple of weeks later I would think of every excuse not go. This time I feel positive about my progress, We do an app check in between gym sessions which gives me the push I need to keep going in between. Ben has altered my exercises each week concentrating on areas I am concerned about, my weak areas and just as importantly keeping it interesting. Being an older client I really do now get “IT” Why having a PT you completely trust works. Ben listens, and gives me the confidence that I can push myself to get fitter, and be safe.

Jackie

Jackie came to me after being recommended to me by another client. Jackie’s goal is to lose weight, feel more confident and to slow down the affects of being in her 60s. Again Jackie would not step foot in a big gym. Jackie has issues with her knees and a historic issue with her left shoulder, so training has not only been based around weight loss but also about strengthening these areas. Work with Jackie has focused on bodyweight, flexibility and mobility and light weight work with dumbbells and kettlebells.
I was nervous about starting training and fitness, having been pretty much away from the gym and any real activity since Covid 19. My body felt achy, weak, and injured and my confidence was rock bottom. Ben has been so reassuring and supportive in his approach that it’s never too late, and we can achieve by building up slowly, surely and regularly. It feels like he’s invested in me and enjoys the positive results as much as I do. He works to my strengths, helps me overcome my weaknesses and is frighteningly good at getting inside my head. I very much enjoy my sessions with Ben each week.

Bob

Bob is an absolute inspiration and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of his rehabilitation journey. In the 6 months or so we have been working together, Bob has come on in leaps and bounds. His fitness, his strength, his mobility, all from a first session where a few bodyweight exercises were almost too much for him, Bob now uses weights, bands, kettlebells, a step and more. Last week he blew my mind when held a plank for a minute.

I felt I had to write this short thank you to Ben Clifton at Prosperity Health and Fitness. I was unfortunate enough to spend most of late spring and summer of 2023 in either Manchester or Lancaster Royal infirmaries, much going on that was not a pleasant experience.
Once out, I had lost some 60lbs, my daily exercise could get me to the end of the road and back (all of a couple of hundred yards).
A friend suggested I get a personal trainer involved with a view to both building up my weight, but also to regain the strength I once had. I approached Ben, he came to the house, talked though what we both think we needed/expected and started on a regimen of twice a week home visits. Progress was slow (in the beginning) but steady, and as of today I have put on about 14lbs, all good weight and am now able to get out and about for a good hour’s walk. Something I never envisaged back in October.
To those who are in the same boat as me having found how frail you can become after a few weeks in Hospital, I can, from experience, highly recommend Ben and his regimens. I seriously thought when I got out of hospital in August I would not make Christmas, but here we are mid January and looking forward to the lighter nights for outdoor activities.
Its been challenging at times but the benefits far outweigh the hard work, in as much – blood pressure down, good appetite, physically stronger, all thanks to Ben.
Bring on the summer months!

Matt

Matt came to me eager to get back to levels he had previously experienced, having a background in lifting.

We had to manage Matt’s desire to be back to 100% against the fact that he had struggled with blood pressure issues so a long term strength and fitness plan was put in place and Matt is now reaping the rewards of his (reluctant) patience.
Just wanted to leave a quick review for Ben that is 100% deserved. Started using Prosperity Health and Fitness about 18 months ago. Due to an increase in blood pressure and generally feeling sluggish, I decided I needed a personal trainer to hold me accountable and develop a plan to get my fitness levels back. Ben has been fantastic at managing both myself and my expectations after having history of lifting weights in the past. The location of the gym and the standard of equipment is top notch and the whole feel of the gym environment is brilliant.  Ben assesses the individuals level of fitness and then works hard to push you to achieve the goals and targets you set in place. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ben if you feel you need a personal trainer, top notch service and top bloke!

Richard

Richard came to me as a keen long distance runner, wanting to transition in to Ultra Marathon’s whilst avoiding the niggling injuries that had previously plagued him.

Since working with me, Richard had completed multiple Ultra Marathons whilst also improving both his marathon and half marathon personal best. Richard also completed the 9in48 challenge with me, setting an unofficial world record of completing the National 3 Peaks, Yorkshire Peaks and Welsh 3 Peaks (yes we did Snowdon twice) in 46hours and 14 minutes (including travel time). A feat which has gained huge respect from the UK hiking community.
As a keen runner, I had been struggling with reoccurring niggles for some time and decided to look for a Personal Trainer, who could help me to improve my overall strength whilst improving my running pace. After two years’ or consistent progress, training with Ben has been the best decision that I could have made, with notable improvements in both areas.
Ben has recently moved into new premises, enabling him to continue to offer high quality bespoke training programmes, coupled with access to state of the art facilities. If you are considering working with a PT, I would highly recommend giving Ben a try.

Ben

Ben came to me wanting to improve his overall fitness, but also as a keen runner eager to improve his 5k and 10k times.
Ben has consistently improved his running with targeted exercises, but we have also established Ben had a slight weakness in his back and also his shoulders, which we have addressed leading to a much healthier and fitter Ben overall.

I have worked with Ben since he opened Prosperity Health and Fitness, and he has made a big difference to my life. I have become stronger, fitter, healthier, more flexible, with a greater understanding of techniques for different exercises, all thanks to Ben’s expert guidance. The mental health benefits of a good workout are well-known, and each session with Ben is always positive and rewarding. Highly recommend him to people of all ages for personal training services.

Helen

Helen came to me, terrified of exercise, not having any confidence and wanting to lose weight but not knowing  where to begin. It took 18 months from our initial consultation for Helen to build up the courage for her first session. Since then she has never looked back, She is now someone who is addicted to the post workout feeling and is training for her first Hyrox event this year.

When I first hired Ben, I had very unrealistic and helpful goals about how much weight I wanted to lose and by what length of time, we reset my expectations and got started with a 6 month programme of works designed to get me back into exercise after 20 years of being sedentary. Within this time I have lost over a stone and a half in weight, but my whole body has changed shape, I am stronger and feel the healthiest that I have done in a while, it isn’t all about weight loss on the scales, I have dropped 2 dress sizes and got back into jeans after 2 decades, taken links out of my watch and no need for wide fit shoes.

More importantly I am completely addicted to doing things that I historically told myself I could not do like a 100KG sled push and deadlift and am now entering a Hyrox competition before end of this year. My whole mindset has shifted and whilst I sometimes get the cant be bothered feeling before sessions I quickly switch back to thinking this is an investment in my body and for my future self.

It took me 18 months to get going and I wish I had done it sooner, if you are on the fence don’t wait just get a call booked in and get started. Ben is supportive, knows when to push you and will get you to your goals.

I could go on but that is basically what I think and thank you so much.

Rob

Rob has been an excellent cyclist in the past, competing in live events and being high on the Peleton leader board. Rob felt he needed more focus to improve his strength and conditioning as well as wanting to tone up.

Been working with Ben since Sept 23 and would highly recommend. Really enjoy the approach and support he gives in and outside of sessions. The sessions themselves are always different and challenging but enjoyable, and crucially get results.

Natalie

Natalie came to me as a keen runner but with minimal upper body strength which she really wanted to improve. Natalie now not only has a much stronger upper body and core, but is a stronger runner too.

I started my sessions with Ben with an overall aim to improve my upper body and core strength, an area of my fitness that I felt was lacking. I was a complete beginner with weights and had no idea what to expect really going into the sessions. I have found Ben to be very patient and helpful; he demonstrates every exercise we do, often multiple times when needed! He explains exactly which muscle each exercise should be working and more importantly he has shown me how to do them safely and how to improve my technique whilst doing so.

We do a variety of workouts each week and Ben always gives me the encouragement and often the push I need to go above and beyond what I would do on my own! I have never had an aim of being able to lift a particular weight but knowing that over the last year and a half we have gradually upped them as time has gone on, when I look back I can see how far I’ve come.

Amy

Amy has previously represented the North of England at Rugby Union but due to her hectic work demands, fell off track with her fitness goals. We have worked together on her strength, conditioning and cardio fitness and Amy is now looking forward to completing her first marathon, whilst being back close to her strength PBs.
I started working with Ben to build my fitness, and improve health. He’s helped me get back into running, through a half marathon, built my confidence back and to top it off I’ve loved the feeling after every session. Ben really gets to know his clients, he knows when to push the workouts and is great at adapting to what you need in the session. Ben is a great friend of mine, having met working together elsewhere, but he is truly meant to be a trainer, he is fantastic at it! I can’t recommend working with Ben enough, he is dedicated, caring and hard working. He’ll make you laugh, his workouts might make you cry but he’s an incredible person, who will support you through your fitness journey and help you reach your goals.
